Excuse me while I get on the magical soap box of doom. My biggest pet peeve is when someone comes into my store, asks about an item, and when informed that it is a one of a kind piece of art, immediately asks for a steep discount.
This scenario makes me want to strangle that someone, and then dance on their corpse:
Someone comes in claiming to be a street performer*, spouting gibberish about how wonderfully artistic they are, what a great gifts they are to our city, that they support artists everywhere, and then insist that a piece of art is horribly overpriced** and that they should be awarded a discount of over HALF off since they are: 1) gracing you with their presence, 2) are paying cash.
Being the slightly vengeful person that I am, I'm thinking of insisted they get me passes to their next show for free, since I feel that any price for their type of show is overpriced. (At least any show that they're performing in.)
*not really a street performer, but my husband tells me it's poor form to get too specific about a customer.
** The artist had set the price based on parts, and labor (this was a very labor intensive piece, highly detailed and very professional looking) .
