I love my car. There is nothing particularly amazing about her, she's a mid 90s accord, with a few more bumps and scrapes then when I got her; but she's relatively easy to repair. Icing on the cake, I married into a family that does their own repairs, and, you guessed it, they work on Hondas.
My car, being, almost 20 years old, requires maintenance. Currently the issues she's been having have been worn out rubber related. I wont bore you with the details, but lets just say that the passenger front wheele has several parts replaced this weekend. Unfortunately, these new parts didn't actually fix the issues I'd noticed in my drive. As a matter of fact, the weird noises have increaded.
Seeking a second opinion (and the overwhelming nightmarish fear of my car killing me due to disrepair) have resulted in me making an appointment for tomorrow morning at a local mechanic shop. I told the mechanic that my car sounds like a "low level warp core engaging when I decelerate", after the guy finished laughing he asked me how my brakepad looked. I will admit, that they were very low, and asked how much it would cost for him to replace them, I was quoted $180. Okay, and what if I gave the shop pads? That would drop the cost to $90. Or, for $40, I could get my own pads, and instal them myself. Challenge accepted!
Let me know how that goes.
